Getting involved with the Further Mathematics Support Programme

This page contains information about how Students, Schools and Colleges, Tutors, Industry and Universities can get involved with the Further Mathematics Support Programme and also who to contact for General Enquiries.

Students

If you would like to study AS/A-level Further Mathematics and cannot do so at your school/college, either because they do not currently offer it, or because it clashes with your other timetabled subjects, then please speak to your mathematics teacher/head of mathematics about the possibility of receiving tuition through the FMSP. Your school or college will need to contact your local FMSP Area Coordinator to arrange this.

If, for any reason, your school or college cannot help you, please contact your local FMSP Area Coordinator directly.

Adult learners should investigate whether it is possible to study at a Further Education College in their region or contact their local FMSP Area Coordinator to discuss studying through the FMSP.

Contact details for your local FMSP Area Coordinator can be found by selecting the relevant region from the map in the left menu.

Schools and Colleges

The FMSP can help all schools and colleges, regardless of whether they already offer Further Mathematics. To get involved, schools and colleges should register with the FMSP. In return for registering, schools/colleges will receive a free single-user teacher access to extensive online resources to support the teaching and learning of Further Mathematics, including materials for the Applied A Level modules, and will be invited to participate in study days, revision days and student enrichment activities organised by the FMSP. Schools and colleges that register will also have the opportunity to use the tutoring facilities of the FMSP.

Schools and colleges can submit an online request to register with the FMSP: online registration request.

Tutors

The FMSP is always looking for high quality, enthusiastic, inspirational tutors of Further Mathematics. If you are interested in becoming a tutor for the FMSP then please contact your local FMSP Regional Coordinator to discuss the possibilities.

Contact details for your local FMSP Area Coordinator can be found by selecting the relevant region from the map in the left menu.

Industry

The FMSP has strong links with many organisations and is keen to develop its links with industry further. Students studying Further Mathematics via tuition provided by their local FMSP Area Coordinator, as well as being mathematically able, invariably take their progression to a university course or career very seriously. FMSP students would value opportunities to hear about careers in which they can use their mathematical talents. If your company is interested in supporting the FMSP in any way then please contact your local FMSP Area Coordinator or alternatively contact the national coordinator Richard Browne, e-mail: richardbrowne@furthermaths.org.uk

Contact details for your local FMSP Area Coordinator can be found by selecting the relevant region from the map in the left menu.

Universities

Around 50 universities are already involved with the FMSP. Many provide venues for Study Days, Revision Days and Enrichment Days aimed at local sixth formers and Key Stage 4 students. School and college students value greatly opportunities to experience learning in a university environment and to find out more about how university courses build on the mathematics they are learning. If you represent a university that would like to get involved in any way then please contact your local FMSP Area Coordinator.
