The East Midlands FMSP aims to promote mathematics and to support the teaching and learning of AS/A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics in secondary schools and colleges across the East Midlands. In particular, we want to enable all schools and colleges in East Midlands that teach A level Mathematics to also offer AS/A level Further Mathematics. We also support the teaching and learning of level 3 mathematics within diplomas.
FMSP support includes:
• Student tuition for AS/A level Further Mathematics
• CPD/Teacher Support for AS/A level Mathematics teachers and teachers of mathematics within the level 3 Engineering Dilploma
• Free access to the MEI Resources Website (supporting all AS/A level Mathematics and Further Matheamtics specifications)
• Mathematics enrichment courses for students in Key Stage 4 and post-16
• AS and A2 Mathematics Revision Days (usually in December and May)
• The Senior Team Mathematical Challenge for students in years 12/13 in November
Why Register?
We invite all secondary schools and colleges in the East Midlands to register, free of charge, with the FMSP. This allows you free access to extensive online mathematics resources and enables you to be kept informed of FMSP activities, both within your local area and nationally.
You can register quickly and easily by using the link in the box at the top of the page.

Enrichment Events / CPD Events
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
As Area Coordinators for the East Midlands we are eager to supply Enrichment events for students (particularly Years 9-13) and CPD events for teachers.
In the past events have been cancelled due to a lack of support. Therefore, We have found that the best way forward is to try to respond to ideas from teachers either in individual schools or in a consortium situation. What events can we organise to help and support you in promoting Mathematics?
Please visit our EVENTS page to find out more information about Enrichment and/or CPD event ideas.

LEVEL 3 ENGINEERING DIPLOMA MATHEMATICS SUPPORT MEETING
Thursday 5 November 2009
The meeting proved very successful in generating much discussion about the problems that teachers/students are currently faced with in regards to Matheamtics within the Engineering Diploma.
Input was provided from a number of speakers, including Exam Boards, and Undergraduate Admissions Managers.
An outcome of this event was the suggestion of organising a follow-up meeting in which the participants and other interested teachers could work upon ideas generated by the discussion, particularly to look at support resources that could be developed for the use of teaching and learning Mathematics within the Diploma.
If you would be interested in such a meeting please contact Rod or Ria using the details above.
